Women’s Board of Bethesda

WBOB updated logo 2013The Women’s Board of Bethesda is composed of 50 active members, along with a strong sustainer membership. The WBOB has played an active role in the life of Bethesda since 1915, and its mission is to enrich and improve the lives of the boys at Bethesda Academy while working to assist the Executive Director of Bethesda. Through their work with Bethesda’s students, they help uphold the principles established for Bethesda by George Whitefield: “Love of God, Love of Learning and a Strong Work Ethic.”

Throughout the academic year, the WBOB provides spiritual material to the young men, recognize the Honor Roll students quarterly and sponsor an annual essay contest. They also decorate the Chapel each Christmas season and purchase gifts for the students.  In recent years, the WBOB has become involved with Homecoming Week, providing noisemakers and T-shirts for the students for the Homecoming game.

The Women’s Board of Bethesda has become a great partner with their involvement in capital improvements for the students – including multiple cottage renovations, updates for the Media Center, and white board technology for the classrooms.

In order to fulfill these critical projects each year, the WBOB organizes various annual fund raising activities, with the largest being the Yates-Astro Resolution Race Trail Run & Walk 5k.  It has become an overwhelming success and the running/walking community looks forward to participating each January!
