Bethesda Academy Farm & Gardens features a five-acre garden, which offers opportunities to enhance the educational strategies and workforce attributes of the young men attending Bethesda Academy. The organic farming facility offers two acres of garden beds, a 1,500-square-foot greenhouse, dwarf Nigerian goats, and hundreds of hens providing fresh eggs.
The garden has obtained grants through the Natural Resource and Conservation Service for cover crops to improve soil quality and has partnered with Georgia Organics to learn contemporary organic farming techniques.
Bethesda Academy Farm & Gardens encourages students to understand the importance of ecological sustainability as well as entrepreneurship. Students and staff work on campus at the Farm Stand to sell organic produce, as well as our own label of Bethesda Grass Fed Beef.
We also partner with Hummingberry Lane, a local soap producer, for custom goat milk soaps. The soaps are for sale at Bethesda Academy’s Farm Stand and in the gift shop of the Wm. H. Ford, Sr. Museum.
