What an exciting season this was for the Blazers!
The Blazers ended the season with a record of 28-3. With a definitive 71-46 victory over Griffin Christian, the Blazers are this season’s GISA AAA State Champions!
We are extremely proud of how our athletes represented us throughout the season. There were some oustanding individual performances and, while each player seemed to have a game in which to shine, the team always played as a cohesive unit. We commend the athletes for their sportsmanship and teamwork, as well as the coaches, led by Clevan Thompson, for providing sound direction and guidance.
We would also like to recognize our seniors for their leadership. The following players will be greatly missed next year: Ben Carter, Naji Cooley, and Marqus Johnson. Congratulations, again, to the players and coaches.
Ben Carter will be recognized as Savannah’s top athlete in High School Boys Basketball from the Greater Athletic Hall of Fame. He has been invited to the 43rd Awards Banquet on May 7 at 6:00pm in the Civic Center Ballroom. Congratulations, Ben!
The Best of Preps Banquet is being held on May 24 at 6:30pm at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center. Bethesda is proud to have two athletes that will be honored at the banquet. Ben Carter has been selected as Boys Basketball Player of the Year and Shidel Williams is the Player of the Year in Track.
The 2012 GISA AAA State Champions – Season Review
