Athletics

Bethesda Academy has a strong commitment to athletics, offering a number of challenging sports programs for middle school and high school students.  After many years with GISA, in 2014, the Blazers joined the South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA)!

At Bethesda, athletic programs are more than just a way to have fun. Sports offer an important way for boys to learn self-discipline and teamwork. For more information about Bethesda athletics and the expectations for our student-athletes, please view our Athletic Handbook.

Bethesda has an impressive legacy of success in athletics. The school’s basketball team has won the GISA regional championship twice and placed second in the GISA state tournament in its division for five consecutive years, and in 2012 (GISA) and 2015 (SCISA), were the State Champions. The football team has routinely advances into the playoffs and made it to the State Championship Game for the 2015-16 year.  The Blazers also have many Region and State Championships for team, relay, and individual events for Track & Field.

2015 Football - SLIDERFrom football and basketball to track and field students enjoy a wide range of sports opportunities. Bethesda students have gone on to earn athletic scholarships with major colleges and universities across the country. Alumni have played football and basketball at the University of Georgia, Alabama State University, Georgetown College, Charleston Southern, Brewton Parker College, and many more programs in the Division II and NAIA profile of college athletics. Alumni have even gone on to play for NFL teams.
