Welcome

A note to new brothers

Congratulations! Based upon your estimated potential to lead, you have been chosen to experience the privilege of being a member of a very elite group of young men, the Honors Cohort.

Our standards are high, much higher than those of the rest of the school body, and we enforce them

These high standards will challenge you. They are supposed to do so. Meeting the challenge presented by high standards will make you a better person in a lot of ways; for now, a better son, brother, student, and friend. Later, it will make you a better husband, father, member of your workplace, and of your community.

Most importantly, it will make you a better Christian.

Being a member of the Honors Cohort will help you to grow from being a boy to being a young man who can lead anywhere. God bless you!

Bethesda Academy – Past, Present, and Future

Bethesda Academy was founded by Reverend George Whitefield as a Christian Orphanage in 1740. It stands on land given to us by King George II of Great Britain. It’s the oldest school for young men in the United States. In fact, it’s older than the United States!

Later, Bethesda Academy became not only an orphanage, but also a home for troubled boys.

Almost everyone thinks we are still these things, but Bethesda Academy is no longer an orphanage or home.

Now we are a Christian day school.

Our vision, or the picture we have in our minds as to what we want our future to be is to become one of the nation’s very best leadership academies for young men and to equip those young men with the tools they need to be civic-minded, Christian servant-leaders of high moral character.

The Leader Development Initiative (LDI) is our plan to realize that vision, and the Honors Cohort is the heart of that plan. You are at the heart of our future!
