21st Century Skills

Bethesda Academy students have the opportunity to learn valuable skills required by one of the fastest-growing careers in the country – video production. Video Production began in 2002 and has grown into a program that is both educational and self-sustaining. At Bethesda, a cutting-edge media production facility offers the latest equipment, editing programs and digital technology. These tools enhance the fundraising efforts of Bethesda, generate revenue, and provide a hands-on curriculum that is both relevant and fun.

Classroom teaching is combined with hands-on training in Bethesda’s on-campus production studio. Camera technique, lighting, post-production and graphic design are a few of the skills taught during this popular Work Experience Program. Bethesda students produce Bethesda’s flagship television program, “A Look through the Arch,” as well as music videos, short films and public service announcements for various local non-profit organizations.

Paying It Forward Through Production

Students produce public service announcements on a wide range of topics, from the importance of exhibiting good character to the dangers of smoking and using drugs. Students learn the fundamentals of video production while also learning the importance of philanthropy and community involvement. In addition to their required class projects, students are also encouraged to create original material.
